One of the hardest parts about installing a compensator on your AR can be timing and tuning the comp. It can involve washers, shims, crush washers, various adhesives, pins, welding, and the list goes on. NOTE: 416R is a Crucible brand steel and it was formulated specifically for barrels. Most types of steel, including normal 416SS are not designed to be used in freezing temperatures. But this steel was designed to operate in arctic temperatures, up to -40F. 416R also has greater accuracy potential than normal 416SS and 4150 steel due to its ability to take highly defined rifling and machining cuts.

NOTE: Be SURE to check your AR Barrel threads when you are installing a new comp. It is very easy to cross thread and/or install the wrong compensator, so always double check and be very sure of what you are installing. Also, be very sure that you DO NOT install a 1/2×28 TPI Atlas 556 Compensator onto a 1/2×28 TPI Atlas 9mm Compensator. Shooting a 9mm bullet through a 5.56 hole is not going to end well.
