The 5.7x28mm FN PS90 carbine rifle is the civilian straight blowback, closed bolt semiautomatic version of the law enforcement/military select-fire FN P90, which is currently in use by over 40 countries including Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Greece, India, Malaysia, Poland, and the United States. Development started in the late 1980’s in conjunction with the FN Five-Seven while trying to replace NATO’s 9×19 Parabellum. The P90 was originally designed as a compact Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) for vehicle crews, special forces, and counter terrorist groups. Since 2005, FN has been offering the civilian legal PS90, which features a 16” cold hammer forged barrel with a permanently attached muzzle brake and is only capable of semiautomatic fire. With an ergonomic design and a compact size, the FN PS90 is an ideal firearm for recreational target shooting or for home defense. The FN PS90 is a groundbreaking firearm built around a highly ergonomic design. The rear and forward thumb holes provide the shooter with a solid and stable grip and enhance controllability.  This FN rifle has an innovative top mounted magazines system which enhances the futuristic appearance. Unique to bullpups, the ejected cartridges are forced downward through the bottom of the firearm which avoids spent casings ejecting close to a shooters eye. The fully ambidextrous controls accommodate left or right-handed shooters. The MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail that is mounted to the top of the receiver allows for the user to use any optic of their choice and has integrated iron sights in case the optic goes down.The FN Herstal P90 has seen combat use since the 1990s, in the Gulf War, War in Afghanistan, and the Iraq War and FN’s offering of the PS90 bullpup rifle allows for civilians to virtually own a piece of military history.
